Raised on Dharug Country, living in Naarm, Sam is passionate about the transformative agency of collaborative community art to foster social change and collective care.
I am an award-winning educator, visual artist and arts-based researcher with more than 20 years’ experience in higher education. My work is grounded in inclusive, strength-based, experiential and relational approaches to learning, creativity and social activation and change.
Across my academic, creative and therapeutic practice, I am committed to the pluriversal reimagining of education: moving beyond dominant, normative models and discourses to create spaces where reciprocity, embodied knowing, creative inquiry, anti-oppressive and relational ways of being can flourish. I am particularly interested in learning environments that nurture students as whole beings - deeply connected to themselves, each other and the wider world.
My work spans arts-based inquiry, visual storytelling, trauma-informed therapeutic arts practice and community-engaged projects that support recovery, healing, cultural revitalisation, social transformation and sustainable futures. My resume is available on request.
